MagicBand haters, today is your day!

Disney has announced the new MagicMobile service will be launching in phases later this year at the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

MagicMobile is designed to take all the current features shared between MagicBands and the MyDisneyExperience app, and will now enable users to ditch the MagicBand altogether and instead utilize their mobile device.

Disney Parks Blog provided more detailed information: “Launching in phases starting later this year, Disney MagicMobile service is a convenient and contactless way to access MagicBand features like theme park entry through the power of an iPhone, Apple Watch or other smart device. Guests will be able to create a Disney MagicMobile pass through the My Disney Experience app and add it to their smart device’s digital wallet. It works like magic – most features will be available by just holding up your smart device near an access point, just like you do with a MagicBand. Disney MagicMobile service and its features will roll out first on Apple devices.”

Disney states that the existing mobile key function on the MyDisneyExperience app will continue to be available exclusively within that app as this new service rolls out.

Guests will also continue to have the opportunity to order a specialty MagicBand for their on-site stay or opt to pickup a Keys to the World card upon check-in at the beginning of their Walt Disney World resort stay.
