Each Friday, the Crescent Lake Club brings you the latest Foodie Find — a review of a dish, cocktail or even restaurant that you’ve been missing out on!

Theme parks and especially water parks often have a stereotype of being a place with not so great food and limited options. Just visiting Volcano Bay at Universal Orlando will show that is simply not always the case. The park is full of unique food and options you didn’t think you would find at a water park. While I do love the park for it’s great theming and attractions, I certainly fell in love with the dining and beverage as well.

While I was at Volcano Bay recently, I decided to have lunch at the Kohola Reef Restaurant and Social Club. Thus quick service style location offered a bunch of different options. From Coconut Crusted Friend Chicken to Jerked Mahi to burgers, pizzas, and salads. There was certainly something here for everyone.

Now for me, I went with the Mango BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich. This was topped with caramelized pineapple, fresh cabbage and mango slaw on a toasted Hawaiian style bun served with a side of fries. I thought this sandwich was great. I really enjoy a good pulled pork sandwich and this elevated it with the mango and pineapple. Having that with the pork was something I had never tried before. The fries were fries, fresh and hot so no complaints from me there. I would definitely go back here and get this again. The meal was $12.99 which really is great pricing, if you wanted to pair it with a fountain drink the meal was $16.49 which is still really good.

If you know anything about me though, I have to pair this with a refreshing beverage. For that I went with the Volcano Blossom, an appropriately themed beer for Volcano Bay. It was light and refreshing and another item I would definitely get again. This beer was $10.50.

Now for dessert there is one thing I have heard about for a while at Volcano Bay and that is the Waturi Fusion! This blend of banana, blue raspberry, strawberry, and orange ice cream flavors make an absolutely delightful and refreshing treat. Now you may need to get there early as I had heard the machine does tend to break down often. If you are at Volcano Bay I cannot recommend this enough though.
