One of the uniquely fun experiences during a trip to Central Florida is checking out one of the three area water parks!
During a recent trip, members of the CLC decided to make a first-ever visit to Universal Orlando’s newest theme park, Volcano Bay … and that’s not all! We decided to rent a private cabana!
First up — here’s a little tour of what we experienced in Cabana 14D at Volcano Bay:
It’s going to be REAL hard to go back to Volcano Bay without a cabana next time!
Let’s dive a little deeper into the details of booking this cabana.
Booking Process: I called about three weeks out to request and pay for a private cabana. There are four types of private cabanas available to rent for the day at Volcano Bay – family cabanas (for up to 12 guests), single cabanas (standalone for up to six guests), upper cabanas (second-floor tower cabanas for up to six guests) and lower cabanas (first-floor tower cabanas for up to six guests). Daily cabana rates are on a sliding scale due to time of year and they start at $199 — our cabana for the day was the last available upper cabana and it cost $425.99 plus tax for rental for the day. I paid for the cabana then and there over the phone — cancellation policy requires cancellation 72 hours in advance for a full refund — and I received a confirmation email with a QR code to bring to the Volcano Bay concierge upon arrival to check in!
Arrival: Upon arriving at Volcano Bay (via the AMAZING Cabana Bay secret entrance), we went to the concierge hut where we checked in and were escorted to cabana 14D located in the River Village of the park! When I received my confirmation email, it noted that we were in an ADA cabana … and I had my fingers crossed that it was one of the cabanas I was hoping for — and it was! Cabana Tower 14 is an ADA-friendly cabana tower, meaning it features an elevator to take you to the second floor! It’s very secluded with a nice private beach space in front. It’s in the back of the park next to the incredibly popular Honu raft ride, with a lovely view of the lazy river and the Volcano. This location was the location I was truly hoping for and it was absolutely perfect.
Cabana Amenities: In addition to the great things like a fridge full of bottled water, a locker, and the all-inclusive TapuTapu station, the cabana also featured towel service and private dining. Every time we returned to the cabana, our damp and used towels had been replaced with fresh and dry towels, and we took advantage of the in-cabana dining to try many of the cocktails and snacks. Our server Francis even surprised us with chocolate lava cakes before we left!
