California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is one of the most sought after restaurants in all of Walt Disney World. It features views unlike any other and has some top notch cuisine. People tend to use it as a spot for special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, and more.

Recently, the Walt Disney World website was updated to note that “California Grill is currently unavailable for bookings after October 2 as we create a special dining experience for the 50th anniversary celebration of Walt Disney World Resort.”

This news of course is worrisome to many fans of this signature restaurant. Many are taking the stance of its not broke don’t fix it. Disney’s Contemporary Resort is undergoing many changes in advance of the 50th anniversary. The guest rooms are currently under renovation for new upgraded Incredibles themed rooms. The Wave on the first floor of the hotel is also closed for a makeover. Rumors there point to a new steakhouse.

The question now is, what is going to happen to California Grill? Complaints typically do not come out of California Grill outside of maybe that it is hard to get a reservation at times. Some speculation has brought up the idea of a new prix fixe offering. Other venues like Be Our Guest inside the Magic Kingdom do such. No doubt California Grill will be a popular stop for guests coming to the 50 anniversary but what changes would make it even better?

My hope is the food quality does not suffer. We know the views won’t change but whether it’s a flatbread, brunch or some bison, I have never been disappointed in California Grill.
