Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort offers a special add-on for their nightly fireworks shows in dessert parties. Inside the park, Magic Kingdom offers three separate parties to choose from. Pre-party, post-party and “Seats & Sweets.” I recently experienced the pre-party option for the first time.
Pricing for the pre- and post-party range from $99 to $109 for adults (ages 10 & up) depending on date and $59 for children aged 3-9. Seats & Sweets pricing is $119 to $129 for adults and $75 for children 3-9. All three parties can be booked up to 60 days in advance. For the pre-party option, guests are able to check in 90 minutes before fireworks to indulge in desserts and beverages. Post-party guests will first check in for the viewing area and then indulge in desserts after the show. Seats & Sweets guests will be able to indulge during the show and have viewing inside the Tomorrowland Terrace with seating.
I booked the dessert party for July 3rd which features the special Disney’s Celebrate America show to celebrate the Fourth of July. This show historically is shown on July 3rd and 4th only. Given possible large crowds and wanting prime viewing for the show, I figured it would be a good plan to book this party for this night. Pre- and post-party guests view the fireworks from the hub gardens area at Magic Kingdom. This is a reserved section which is only for these guests.
The show time for July 3rd was 9:20 PM and the confirmation email for the party said to check in as early as 7:50 PM. Upon research I knew people have been able to check in earlier than that which I confirmed as well. At roughly 7:20 PM I checked in and started to dive into the treats!
When you check in, a cast member will escort you to a table on the upper level of the Tomorrowland Terrace which is where pre- and post-party guests will enjoy their desserts. The lower level of the terrace is for Seats & Sweets guests.
There are tons of offerings for guests to enjoy. To help enhance the experience for all, there is sparkling cider available in wine flutes along with wine, champagne, beer and of course water, milk, iced tea and juices.
For the Fourth of July they did bring out some specially themed items such as chocolate covered strawberries in red, white and blue. They also had a decorate your own cookie station with Fourth of July themed toppings. The other desserts included; cupcakes, cookies ‘n cream cheesecake mousse, chocolate silk pie, cake pops, chocolate pudding, tres leches, doughnut bites, fruit and cheeses and a caramel apple crepe. There are plenty of items for everyone. The exact menu can change on a nightly basis.
I grabbed my first plate along with an adult beverage. This party and Magic Kingdom table service restaurants are the only venues you can get alcohol at the Magic Kingdom. After indulging, I did go back for even more. After filling up on treats, I headed to the viewing area which a cast member will escort you too. I arrived there around 8:20ish. Due to this area also being used by the post-party guests, it will start to fill up before you may get there. There is still plenty of space though. I grabbed a spot on the left side of the area and hung out until the show. One thing I did kind of wish was included was bottled water to take with to the viewing area. They only have glasses in the dessert area which cannot be taken out.
As crowds around the reserved area packed in, we were able to breathe a bit inside. This show doesn’t feature much in terms of projections so a perfect view of the castle isn’t totally necessary, tho if you are booking this for a Happily Ever After viewing or another projection heavy show this will still be a great spot.
Disney’s Celebrate America is a fantastic nearly 360 degree show with fireworks all around Magic Kingdom. I was very happy with my dessert party experience and not having to stake out a spot hours prior. I don’t believe I would book this all the time but for a special occasion like July 4th or New Years Eve I would definitely do it again. Not having to battle crowds is a big plus. It would also be a great event to celebrate a special occasion like anniversary or birthday.
