Carnival Valor is back — and better than ever! After a comprehensive dry dock, the popular Carnival ship has officially returned to service, complete with exciting new features, refreshed spaces, and thoughtful enhancements designed to make your cruise experience even more enjoyable.
The newly updated Valor welcomed its first guests back on board in Barcelona, where it set sail on a special Carnival Journeys transatlantic voyage back to its homeport in New Orleans. This sailing marks the first chance for guests to experience all of the ship’s newest additions and upgrades firsthand.
Thrills for All Ages: WaterWorks Aqua Park

One of the most exciting additions is the brand-new WaterWorks aqua park. Located on the top deck, WaterWorks transforms the outdoor space into a vibrant, family-friendly playground. The new twin waterslides promise plenty of excitement for kids and adults alike, making sea days even more fun. Whether you’re looking to race down the slides or simply relax while the kids play, this popular Carnival feature adds a splash of adventure to every sailing.
Accessibility Improvements Across the Ship
In addition to adding new attractions, Carnival prioritized accessibility throughout the refurbishment. Public areas across the ship have been updated with improved pathways and upgraded facilities, ensuring that all guests—regardless of mobility needs—can comfortably enjoy everything the ship has to offer. These thoughtful enhancements reflect Carnival’s ongoing commitment to creating an inclusive cruise experience for everyone.
Honoring Service Members: Heroes Tribute Bar & Lounge

Also debuting on Carnival Valor is the Heroes Tribute Bar & Lounge, located on Deck 5. This dedicated space honors active-duty military personnel and veterans who sail with Carnival. The cozy, welcoming lounge offers a space for service members and their families to gather and enjoy time together while onboard. Carnival has now added the Heroes Tribute Bar to 16 ships across the fleet, continuing its tradition of recognizing and celebrating those who serve.
“Heroes Tribute Bar & Lounge is a heartfelt salute to the brave men and women who have served and continue to serve our country – and it’s fitting to have this popular venue now featured on Carnival Valor, a ship named in honor of our heroes. We’re proud that more military families choose Carnival for their well-deserved vacations than any other cruise line.”
Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.
Even More Enhancements Throughout the Ship
Guests onboard will also notice a variety of enhancements throughout the ship’s staterooms, including the addition of new USB outlets for easy device charging and improved lighting for added comfort and convenience. The casino has been refreshed and expanded, featuring a wider selection of games and a more spacious, updated layout for guests to enjoy.
The ship’s spa and fitness center have been reimagined as the Cloud 9 Spa, offering a revitalized space for relaxation, wellness treatments, and workout routines. For guests looking to capture special vacation moments, the new Dream Studio on Deck 3 now offers personalized photo sessions. Meanwhile, the all-new Carnival Adventures desk on Deck 5provides guests with information and booking options for shore excursions at every port of call.
Families traveling with kids and teens will appreciate several exciting updates to the ship’s youth spaces. Camp Oceannow features a fleet-first LED feature wall, delivering interactive programming and multi-player gaming experiences for younger cruisers. Circle “C” and Club 02 have also received upgrades, introducing new gaming options and karaoke experiences to keep older children and teens entertained throughout the sailing.
Beyond these key upgrades, Carnival Valor also received new carpeting, refreshed décor, and general refurbishments throughout all public areas, giving the entire ship a fresh, modern feel that reflects Carnival’s continued focus on enhancing the guest experience.
Sailing from New Orleans
Once back in New Orleans, Carnival Valor will resume its popular year-round schedule of 4- and 5-day Western Caribbean cruises, with itineraries that include guest-favorite destinations such as Cozumel and Progreso.
With these new additions and updates, Carnival Valor is ready to welcome guests to experience an even more memorable cruise vacation. Whether you’re looking for family fun, added comfort, or meaningful spaces to relax, the refreshed Valor offers something for everyone.
