A new baby mandrill has been born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. This baby girl was born on Saturday, April 10th to mom Hazel and dad Linus. Cast members chose the name Ivy to fit in with the rest of her colorful family – Olive, Scarlet, Snow and Hazel.
Mom and the newborn are healthy and bonding. Guests should be on the lookout for them on Kilimanjaro Safaris. The baby may be will likely be shy at first clinging to mom’s stomach which is a natural bonding behavior. Within the next few weeks though, the baby will begin to walk. Seven other mandrills call Animal Kingdom home. With this birth, the mandrill troop at Animal Kingdom now includes four generations of mandrills from the same family.
