Beginning April 18th and running through April 24th Disney’s Animal Kingdom will be celebrating Earth Day with special limited time activities and treats.
Over at Conservation Station, the Animation Experience will allow guests to draw characters such as Dumbo, Terk, Squirt, Shere Khan, Simba and Scar who represent real life animals representing conservation work around the globe.
You will be able to catch a glimpse of special characters on the Discovery River as floatillas pass by waving to guests on land.
Disney can’t pass up having special treats to celebrate. There will be “a selection of limited-time specialty cupcakes: the Creature Comfort’s Honey Bee Cupcake, the strawberry-flavored Flamingo Cupcake at Flame Tree Barbecue, or the Sea Turtle Graham Cracker Cupcake (plus the Crave the Wave cocktail!) at Restaurantosaurus Lounge.”
There will be a new special Earth Day nature badge as part of the Wilderness Explorer experience that guests can take part in. In addition to that an Earth Day limited-edition Te Fiti Moana trading pin will be available. Guests can then support the Disney Conservation Fund by purchasing a special plush inspired by species that call Disney’s Animal Kingdom home. Guests are encouraged to check out reusable items such as an eco-friendly water bottle and reusable shopping bags at the Island Mercantile.
Disney Photopass service will help capture special in park Earth Day backgrounds and Magic Shots. Earth Day screensavers and Zoom backgrounds will be available to download as well.
Finally, Beginning April 2nd, artisans will be creating a special sand sculpture using 40 tons of sand celebrating National Geographic’s “Secrets of the Whales” which begins streaming on Disney+ on Earth Day. The sculpture will remain in place until April 30th.
