Time to leave the kiddos with a sitter and enjoy a date night on the monorail! One of the greatest advantages of staying at a resort with monorail access is enjoying a great date night where you can easily travel between resorts and not have to worry with driving! This particular date night was extra special because it was Valentine’s Day. I made a later (for us) dinner reservation at California Grill so we could have time to enjoy pre-dinner drinks at one of the other resorts. After a refreshing afternoon at the pool, we got all fancified and walked from Bay Lake Tower to Contemporary to catch the monorail.
First stop, Enchanted Rose. There was a quite a long waiting list but the cast member told us we could order drinks at the bar to go. I wasn’t thrilled with the idea but boy it turned out to be the BEST thing ever. We took our drinks and headed down to the lobby to enjoy them and listen to the pianist. Classical Disney tunes on piano and glass of rosé for the win! I’d recommend this over sitting in the actual bar if you are just getting standard drinks.
*Magical Moment* A sweet little girl was sitting in the lobby with her stuffed Pooh Bear. The pianist noticed and started playing the “Winnie the Pooh Song”. The magic is still there!
After drinks we hopped back on the monorail to head to dinner at California Grill. I love being able to pop out of one resort and quickly head to another. If you’ve never dined at California Grill, I highly recommend for a special meal. It has amazing views of Magic Kingdom. When there are fireworks, they pipe in the music and you can either watch through the window or head outside to one of two observation decks. Perfect way to celebrate any occasion or just because!
You can’t go wrong with any menu item at California Grill, from sushi to steaks and flatbread pizzas, there’s something for everyone. My favorite dish is the Braised Beef Short Rib Wontons. Sometimes I’ll pair it with a salad and call it a meal. Since this was an extra special date night, we went with a couple of appetizers and entreés. They did offer a special Valentine’s Pre-Fixe menu, but we both wanted an entreé that wasn’t included.
Dinner was topped off with a special surprise from the hubby. Gifts like these can be ordered directly through Disney.
A Monorail date night is a must-do for any couples looking for a fun, laid back night with delicious drinks and eats!
