Today, Disney has announced when Splash Mountain will close at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will replace this attraction opening in late 2024. The same change will be happening at Disneyland as well but no date has been given to that closure just yet.
In addition, Disney shared a new look and some details on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
Guests will join Princess Tiana and Louis the alligator during Mardi Gras season as they prepare to host a celebration for the people of New Orleans. The new scene above is the moment you first drop into the bayou and encounter some new and familiar friends. Disney says zydeco music will fill the air as you float through this scene.
Tiana has made some new friends with a band of critters including an otter, rabbit, raccoon, beaver, and more. The band members sing and play instruments made of natural materials they found in the bayou.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will take guests on a journey inspired by the story and characters from the hit film, picking up where that story left off. Splash Mountain at Walt Disney World Resort will be closed starting Jan. 23, 2023, so Disney can begin the next phase of this attraction’s development. Additional information about Splash Mountain at Disneyland Resort will be shared at a later date.
