Disney Cruise Line has announced that beginning this summer the Disney Magic will set sail on select 2, 3, and 4 night sailings from the United Kingdom.
These sailings will only be open to UK residents and can be booked beginning in April. Departures will occur from London Tilbury, Newcastle, Liverpool, and Southampton. The sailings will take place summer 2021.
Disney has health and safety in mind with these sailings. They have five main points of emphasis.
- Health and wellness – COVID-19 testing, health screenings, face coverings, reduced capacity, and physical distancing
- Cleaning and disinfecting – elevated cleaning and sanitation levels
- Innovative technology – the DCL app will be the place to help guests and promote health and safety
- Crew member training – new policies and procedures in place
- Working together – giving guests resources to navigate these new policies
These sailing won’t be without the Disney magic though. Guests will have opportunities to see Disney characters such as Captain Mickey, Marvel superheroes, Toy Story friends, and of course the princesses. Broadway style performances will take place as part of the entertainment offerings as well. The various highly themed dining venues will also be open for guests to enjoy.
Activities for kids, families and adults will be available as well such as the incredibly popular Palo signature dining experience for adults. Kids can enjoy the Oceaneer Club or plunge down the AquaDunk. Family fun can be found in the D-Lounge.
This is just the beginning of getting back to cruising for Disney Cruise Line. I expect Disney to use this time as sort of a test and adjust as well using what guests like and don’t like as they get back to full cruising hopefully later this fall. Many may be still apprehensive to cruise at this time but these small sailing only for the UK allow those that are ready to give it a test run. Here’s to hoping cruising is back sooner rather than later!
