Disney is preparing for Mickey and Minnie’s birthday this week with a big announcement! Mickey’s ToonTown at Disneyland will close for major renovation in March 2022 and reopen in 2023.
Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro announced the change today at the IAAPA expo. Imagineers are hard at work to create all new experiences for everyone in the family to enjoy at ToonTown. Of course one of the previously announced aspects to ToonTown is the addition of Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway.
One of the new spaces within ToonTown will be CenTOONial Park, where guests can find interactive play experiences. A fountain at its center will be a water play space during the day and at night turn into a spectacle for guests to enjoy. A dreaming tree nearby by is inspired by a tree Walt would sit under dreaming about all his future projects.
