Disney CEO Bob Chapek announced this morning that Disneyland resort will reopen its theme parks beginning April 30th. This reopening will be at a 15% capacity to start.
Disney says that beloved characters will return in new ways and unexpected places. Experiences that draw large crowds like parades and fireworks will return at a later date.
Theme park capacity will be very limited to start to comply with governmental requirements. A theme park reservation system similar to Walt Disney World will be set up. Guests will need to obtain a reservation in order to visit. Until further notice only California residents will be allowed to visit Disneyland parks. More details on that to come.
Cast members and local community members will be invited to check out theme park offerings in the days leading up to the opening. A Touch of Disney will continue as planned from March 18th through April 19th. Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel will reopen with limited capacity on April 29th. Disney Vacation Club Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel will open May 2nd. Disneyland Hotel and Paradise Pier Hotel will open at a later date.
The highly anticipated Avenger’s Campus will not open with Disney California Adventure on April 30th, but will open at a later date.
