Each Friday, the Crescent Lake Club brings you the latest Foodie Find — a review of a dish, cocktail or even restaurant that you’ve been missing out on!
The Contemporary is home to some big name dining venues like California Grill and Chef Mickey’s. Both very popular and places people flock too. However, there is another restaurant at the Contemporary that many often overlook or don’t even know is there. Located on the ground level is a restaurant and bar called The Wave of American Flavors. This restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They also offer a bar/lounge which is where my experiences have taken place.
Now I do want to note that The Wave will be closing in July for a refurbishment. Some rumors indicate a retheme of the location. I just hope this doesn’t change the food and service too much. You can visit The Wave now through July 15th.
If dining in the main dining room, you can of course order drinks from the bar. Breakfast at The Wave features items such as eggs Benedict, and sweet potato pancakes. Lunch you can find salads, and burgers and sandwiches. For dinner, main dishes like grilled beef tenderloin and seared potato gnocchi may satisfy your appetite.
That is not all though. Since I am focusing on the lounge with this Foodie Find, there is a specific lounge menu to go along with that. It is not a large menu by any means but it gets the job done.
- The Wave Cheese Board – $15.50
- Signature Burger – $19.00
- Grilled Chicken Sandwich – $14.00
- Caesar Salad – $8.50
- Lump Crab and Florida Rock Shrimp Cakes – $14.50
- Artisanal Bread Selection – $11.00
Not a large menu by any means but a variety and items that definitely will not break the bank. You can at times order off the regular menu but that is not always available.
Now for the drinks. The Wave has a large drink list featuring specialty cocktails, beers, bourbon, and wine. A favorite of mine is the Rum Swizzle which features Mount Gay Eclipse Rum with tropical juices and flavors of guava and mango. A refreshing drink after a day in the parks. A fan favorite at The Wave is the Seven Seas Lagoon Shared Cocktail, this is SKYY Vodka, Parrot Bay Coconut Rum, Bols Blue Curaçao, lime juice, pineapple juice, fruit boba, and gummy fish served in a fish bowl! There really is a lot to choose from on this drink menu.
The Wave features two lounge areas in blue lit almost fish tank like rooms. They also have a full bar area with wrap around seating and of course TVs to watch whatever sporting event may be on. I have always found service to be top notch as well. During pandemic times I have made a point to stop here when I can and take some time to relax and enjoy a beverage.
So you may not have a ton of time to check The Wave out before it changes but if you can I highly recommend it.
