Each Friday, the Crescent Lake Club brings you the latest Foodie Find — a review of a dish, cocktail or even restaurant that you’ve been missing out on!
This week we take a look at a special temporary opportunity happening at Walt Disney World’s Contemporary Resort. Currently, Disney’s Contemporary Resort is undergoing some changes in time for the 50th anniversary celebration. One of those changes is with The Wave… of American Flavors. As of July 15th, 2021, the location has closed for refurbishment to become something new. According to sources, the location will receive a brand new name and look. The breakfast offerings will remain mostly the same but lunch and dinner will look different than before. The new space will open in time for the Walt Disney World 50th anniversary celebration October 1st.
In the mean time breakfast at the Contemporary has moved! Currently, The Wave menu is available atop the resort at California Grill.
Now prior to the Covid shutdowns, California Grill did offer a special Sunday brunch but that has yet to return. In the mean time if you want a nice breakfast option this is the place to be! I chose the American with scrambled eggs and bacon. That’s not all though, for $19 you can get bottomless mimosas! So of course I had to take advantage of that as well.
The big thing with this offering of course is the views. You are allowed to go out before, during and after your meal to take in these incredible views. California Grill truly is the best location on property for dining of any kind.
As I mentioned, I did have the American. Which comes out to $14 and then add the mimosas for $19 which ended up as $33 before tax and tip. Considering brunch at California Grill begins at $90, this offering right now is an absolute steal. Our service was amazing and the entire experience made me want to return. I am sad this will go away when the location downstairs reopens but hopefully California Grill can find a way to at least bring brunch back.
If you have the opportunity to check this experience out take it. I find it hard to believe someone would be disappointed with it. The breakfast itself is not the best food I have ever had but its well worth the $14.
