Each Friday, the Crescent Lake Club brings you the latest Foodie Find – a review of a dish, cocktail or even a restaurant that you’ve been missing out on!

The entire Crescent Lake Club crew had the chance to check out the new Captain’s Sing-along Brunch at The Boathouse recently. Currently this brunch offering is only available on Sundays but we got word from our server while we were there that the brunch would be expanding to Saturdays in May! Brunch runs from 10 am to 3 pm with dueling pianos from 11 am to 2 pm. Those who wear a captain’s hat will be served a free mimosa if of age!

The Crescent Lake Club crew of course had to play along with the captain theme. Our reservation was just around 11 am. We were sat just near the pianos with a perfect view of the whole restaurant. The pianos are in the first room of the restaurant so if you are not the sing-along type you can sit in the second room which would be a bit more quiet.

Now as for the menu you can order off both the regular Boathouse menu or their special brunch menu. There are several boat drinks to choose from for brunch including a “Pearmosa”, Boathouse Bloody Mary, and Espresso Martini. Moving onto the food options:

  • Smoked Salmon Bagel $15
  • Avocado Toast $14
  • Steak and Eggs $21
  • Fried Chicken Biscuit & Gravy $15
  • Shrimp and Grits $19
  • Jumbo Lump Crabcakes Benedict $28
  • Lakeside Breakfast $14
  • Belgian Waffle $15

Outside of the mimosa when you wear your captain’s hat the table will receive the iconic Boathouse rolls but with cinnamon roll icing on top!

My brunch choice was the lakeside breakfast which came with eggs, bacon or sausage, home fries and ciabatta toast! Others at the table got the avocado toast, and fried chicken biscuit & gravy.

The real star of this meal is the dueling pianos. You have two great players who switch off singing and playing any song you want. They take requests on paper or if you venmo @Piano_Rob you can send your request in that way as well. We were there while it was storming as well and they kept things in theme with songs involving rain and storms as well.

My meal was quite good. The home fries/potatoes were a little over done. It is hard to screw up simple breakfast items. The bacon was probably my favorite part being prepared just how I like (extra crispy). I don’t believe anyone else at the table had major complaints about their meal as well. The meal was sort of secondary to the entertainment and company.

Overall, the price point, food, and entertainment were all hits. I know for the Crescent Lake Club we will definitely be back. We have one more brunch to discuss on a future Foodie Find and then maybe we can crown who gets official brunch of the CLC!
