If you’re dreaming of cruising to Alaska in comfort and style, Royal Caribbean’s Quantum of the Seas is packed with incredible experiences, activities, and amenities for every kind of traveler. Whether you’re sailing for adventure, relaxation, or something in between, here’s your guide to what’s included with your fare and what extras are worth the splurge.
What’s Included in Your Cruise Fare
Royal Caribbean packs a lot into your standard cruise fare on Quantum of the Seas, including:
Dining (Included)

- Main Dining Room: Enjoy sit-down meals for breakfast, lunch (on sea days), and dinner. The menu changes daily and includes vegetarian and gluten-free options.
- Windjammer Marketplace: A casual buffet with international favorites, open for all meals.
- Café Promenade: Great for snacks, sandwiches, and coffee 24/7.
- Sorrento’s Pizza: Late-night cravings? This spot has your pizza fix covered and is a must-stop every cruise.
- The Dog House: Grab a gourmet hot dog at this SeaPlex favorite.
- Solarium Bistro: This venue is also included, but left a bit to be desired for me, especially at dinner. Appetizers and desserts are served buffet-style, while entrées are ordered à la carte. Breakfast and lunch are fully buffet-style and closely mirror the Windjammer’s offerings. It’s a solid breakfast stop on sea days if you’re relaxing in the Solarium.
- Café Two70: This is another included option serving salads, sandwiches, and light fare. Note that there are also some upcharge items available if you’re looking for a specialty treat.
Don’t forget about the many bars/lounges throughout the ship as well! Some of my favorites were Schooner Bar and NorthStar Bar. And I have to mention the free ice cream. I certainly had my fair share during my cruise.
Activities & Entertainment (Included)

- SeaPlex: The largest indoor activity space at sea! Think bumper cars, roller skating, pickleball, Xbox lounge, and more. As a solo traveler, I didn’t spend much time here, but I can see it being a great spot for families and friend groups.
- RipCord by iFLY (1 free session per guest): Experience the thrill of skydiving in a wind tunnel at sea. However, this offering was closed for maintenance on my sailing and can be unavailable for long periods due to delays in parts or repairs—something to keep in mind.
- FlowRider: Try your luck surfing on this 40-foot-long surf simulator.
- Rock Climbing Wall: Test your strength with panoramic views behind you.
- Live Shows: Watch full-scale productions in the Two70, Royal Theater or catch live music, trivia, and game shows around the ship.
Only one show on Quantum requires reservations: Starwater, performed in the high-tech but unconventional Two70 venue. While the visuals are impressive, the viewing angles can be tough, and the storyline was hard to follow. Personally, I’d skip this one next time. I preferred Sequins and Feathers, a high-energy, Vegas-style revue in the Royal Theater. Don’t miss the game shows either—Crazy Quest is a standout and always a hilarious time.
Pools & Wellness (Included)

- Multiple pools and whirlpools
- Adults-only Solarium (enclosed with a glass canopy and ocean views)
- Fitness center with cardio and weight equipment
While I didn’t use the pools much, I did enjoy the large whirlpools in the Solarium. There are two on each side with incredible views—perfect for relaxing while sailing through Endicott Arm. Just note: the ship’s pool and deck setup may not be ideal for a Caribbean cruise where outdoor lounging is a priority. That said, it’s an excellent layout for Alaskan sailings.
The fitness center is spacious, but some of the equipment—like the treadmills—felt a bit outdated and didn’t always function properly.
Worth the Splurge
Specialty Dining
- Wonderland: An immersive, artistic dining experience that’s as imaginative as it is delicious.
- Jamie’s Italian by Jamie Oliver: Fresh, rustic dishes and handmade pasta.
- Izumi: Sushi and hibachi in a lively atmosphere.
- Chops Grille: Royal Caribbean’s classic steakhouse with prime cuts and elegant sides.
- Chef’s Table: An intimate, upscale tasting menu with wine pairings.
I was able to try Jamie’s Italian for lunch and Chops Grille for dinner. I had done Chops before on Icon of the Seas but never Jamie’s. Both were excellent experiences that elevated my onboard dining. Often, Royal Caribbean runs pre-cruise promotions where you can snag these dining add-ons for less. If you’re planning to visit multiple specialty restaurants, consider a dining package to save even more. If you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply want a memorable night out, Chops Grille is a top recommendation.
North Star

Take a ride in the North Star—a glass observation capsule that lifts you 300 feet above sea level for breathtaking views of Alaska’s glaciers and coastline. While it is occasionally complimentary (usually on port days), most rides carry an additional cost. During my sailing, it was closed on sea days due to rough waters. In Endicott Arm, they offer a premium experience that provides unbeatable panoramic views—definitely worth it if available. Just keep in mind this attraction can be unavailable due to weather or maintenance.
VOOM Internet
Royal Caribbean’s VOOM Internet is some of the best at sea, offering enough speed to stream, video chat, and keep your socials updated. While not a necessity for everyone, it’s an essential upgrade if you’re a content creator or need to stay connected during your cruise. I personally always get it so I can share updates in real-time.
Spa & Thermal Suite
Relax with a massage, facial, or just unwind in the thermal suite featuring saunas, steam rooms, and heated loungers. Especially amazing after a chilly Alaskan excursion.
Final Thoughts

Quantum of the Seas strikes a great balance between included value and exciting extras. You could easily enjoy an incredible vacation without spending more, but a few strategic splurges can take your cruise to the next level. Whether it’s soaring above a glacier in the North Star or indulging in a gourmet meal at Wonderland, there are plenty of memorable ways to make your sailing truly unforgettable.
While this ship offers fantastic features for colder-weather sailings like Alaska, it may not be the top pick for Caribbean-bound cruisers who are looking for expansive pool areas or large sun decks. Still, it’s a solid option packed with technology, activities, and comfort.
