Walt Disney World Resort offers numerous extras that guests can book to enhance their vacation experience. From behind the scenes looks to extras that make your trip more magical. Today, we are looking at the “Behind the Seeds” tour at EPCOT. This relatively inexpensive tour is a way to get a behind the scenes look at Living with the Land, one of EPCOT’s opening day attractions.

Behind the Seeds is $35 per person and is a one hour walking tour through the greenhouses of the attraction. Your tour guide will go in depth on several aspects of the tour and you are encouraged to ask questions throughout. You may even get to taste some of what is grown within the greenhouses.

Guests are asked to arrive 15 minutes prior to tour start. You will be given a name tag and be joined with roughly 15 people on your tour. The tour check in desk is located to the right of Soarin and just near the exit to the Living with the Land attraction. You are first taken back into a room where you will be introduced to your guide as well as your other tour members. After a quick introduction, you are off!

First up, you will get a look at some of the pest control Disney and the scientist team uses to encourage healthy plant growth.

This is also one of the few Disney tours where you can film and photograph. Many tours Disney does not allow such due to the backstage nature.

You get an up close look at many of the plants you see in the attraction. You’ll even learn that some of the aspects in this attraction that you may think are to help the plants grow are actually just for show.

Many of the plants are off limits in terms of touching but you do get to meet Stanley! This special plant reacts to touch and is really fun to interact with. Your guide will even do something special after everyone gets a chance to interact with Stanley.

If you are a cucumber fan you are in luck. Guests will have the opportunity taste test cucumbers grown right in the green house!

Another highlight for me was going into the fish area. Here guests are able to feed the fish! It is something that would be especially fun for the young ones in the family to participate in.

Overall, if you are a Living with the Land fan, EPCOT fan, or just a fan of behind the scenes, this is a great option for you to see how Disney takes care of these plants on a daily basis. I highly recommend guests give this a go on their next Walt Disney World visit. Be sure to reach out to your Crescent Lake Club agent if you want to add this onto your vacation.
