Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando are making some changes to their guidelines and policies regarding Covid-19.
Beginning May 8th, Cast Members at Walt Disney World will no longer need to receive temperature screenings. On May 16th, guests entering Walt Disney World theme parks will no longer need to receive temperature screenings as well.
Over at Universal Orlando beginning tomorrow May 6th, temperature screenings will no longer be happening for anyone. In addition to that Universal is also changing social distancing guidelines to three feet from six feet.
Mask guidelines remain the same for now at both Orlando area theme parks.
Teetz’s Take
This has been writing at the wall for a few weeks. Research and local health officials have said temperature screenings are not necessary in returning to normalcy. The biggest change today was Universal moving to three feet distancing. Reports from inside the parks recently say social distancing has not been great in recent weeks either.
While Disney has not changed their social distancing measures yet it is only a matter of time in my opinion. Mask guidelines remain the same for now at both. Vaccinations continue to go well in the United States but have slowed. As summer crowds roll in it will be interesting to see how more guidelines change. The theme parks are prepping for summer crowds especially with Disney bringing back the college program. Stay tuned for what is next!
