Mears, the operator of Disney’s Magical Express has announced today that beginning in January 2022 they will be operating a shuttle service to the Disney Resort area from Orlando International Airport.
Disney announced a while back that their Magical Express service would be ending at the end of 2021. The reasoning given was that guest habits and needs have changed over time. Disney has not announced any sort of replacement service or options for shuttle services from Orlando International Airport at this time.
According to Mears, the new Mears Connect service will begin in January 2022 when the Magical Express ends and reservations for the new service will open this May. Mears Connect will offer guests safe and reliable service that they had come to expect with Disney’s Magic Express but without the Disney branding. They will have both services to and from the Walt Disney World resorts.
Teetz’s Take
Mears Connect will give guests heading to Walt Disney World another great option getting to and from the airport now that Disney’s Magic Express is going away. Many adult travelers were expected to use services like Uber and Lyft or renting a car but, guests with small children were worried about car seat situations. Having these motor coach service like the soon to be former Magical Express will help mitigate that concern. While this will come at an added cost to guests this will be a great option for families. In my eyes this is a definite win. Now we wait and see if Disney has anything up their sleeves…
