Disney and LucasFilm just held a panel at Star Wars Celebration called “From a Galaxy Far, Far Away to a Disney Park Near You” and shared some new and exciting updates for Star Wars in the parks.
Beginning tomorrow, May 28th, visitors to Disneyland and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be able to spot some new visitors. Boba Fett and Fennec Shand will be visiting the land and encountering traveling guests. That is not all, Din Djarin, known as the Mandalorian, and Grogu, the child who found protection with Mando, also will journey to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland park at a later date.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is expanding its storytelling when guests visit. From opening up until now, the land has been focused on the characters from the new trilogy of Star Wars films. Now, that focus is expanding to include even more new characters from beloved Star Wars stories.
Disney is committed to sharing legacy, original and new characters in exciting ways throughout Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Characters on Batuu will remain specific to their story and timeline and will not intersect with other characters from other timelines. This means if Darth Vader were to appear in Black Spire Outpost, Kylo Ren would not appear at the same time.
The highly popular and beloved Star Wars attraction, Star Tours, is celebrating its 35th anniversary at Disneyland park. Disney also announced new destinations will be added to this attraction to celebrate this milestone. Star Wars continues to be a major part of Disney parks around the globe.
