Gideon's Bakehouse

Since 2018, I’ve been trying to get my hands on the must-have Gideon’s Bakehouse chocolate chip cookie at Disney Springs. I made attempts to snag one when they could be found at Perfect Pig but always missed out on that day’s delivery. Today was my day! When Gideon’s made its official Grand Opening, the line snaked through Disney Springs — often times with people leaving empty-handed.

The plan was to arrive early before opening (10:00 am) and grab a spot in line. I was delayed a bit due to a thunderstorm, and walked up around 10:25 am to find they were taking names for the virtual queue. I was given a return time of one hour and would be notified by text when I could get my hands on some cookies. Luckily we had a brunch reservation at Homecomin’ where we could enjoy some food while we waited. (Get the Hallelujah Biscuit, you can thank me later.)

As soon as I walked out of Homecomin’, I got the text that I could return to the queue. I joined the line and was handed this month’s menu. I settled on the Original Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter Crunch, and the Coffee Cake (a morning exclusive) cookies. If you are a chocolate chip cookie dough fan, then the Original Chocolate Chip is cookie is for you! It had a doughy inside and LOTS of chocolate chips. The Coffee Cake cookie boasted the same doughy inside with a crunchy outside. This one pairs well with a warm cup of coffee. My favorite of the three was the Peanut Butter Crunch cookie covered in peanut butter chips, peanuts, and a sprinkle of salt. OH BOY was it delicious.

What’s better than a plate of cookies and a cup of coffee on your resort balcony?

The special cake slice for February was the Eternal Flame Double Frosted cake: two layers of buttercream frosting — chocolate fudge and maraschino cherry –with three layers of chocolate cake. Sprinkled throughout were crunchy pieces of the Eternal Flame cookie and its spices. The cake was perfectly baked and moist, but you have to be a BIG fan of frosting to truly enjoy this one. Personally, the cake-to-frosting ratio was a bit much for me, but the flavors packed a punch with a hint of spice that hit on the back of each bite.

I needed something to wash all of the sweet goodness down and landed on the Original Peanut Butter Iced Coffee. Don’t walk — RUN — to grab this smooth and sweet caffeinated cup of goodness. By far my top pick of my loot from Gideon’s Bakehouse.

Peanut Butter Iced Coffee. I’ll take one of these delivered to me every morning, k thanks!

If you are looking to satisfying your sweet tooth, Gideon’s is your answer. I’d suggest grabbing a few friends and a few cookies to share. You won’t regret it.
