Disney’s 5th and newest cruise ship is now in the hands of Disney Cruise Line. The Disney Wish was handed over by Meyer Werft Shipyard in Germany where the wish was built.
Construction began more than two years ago on the Wish. Disney Cruise Line President Thomas Mazloum and Meyer Werft Managing Director Jan Meyer signed the official documents transferring ownership of the Disney Wish to Disney.
Disney Cruise Line presented Meyer Werft with a Cinderella statuette commemorating the bronze statue that welcomes guests in the ship’s Grand Hall. Following the ceremony, Captain Marco Nogara took the helm of the Disney Wish for the transatlantic voyage from Bremerhaven to her home in Port Canaveral, Florida.
The Disney Wish begins sailing later this summer out of Port Canaveral. The ship features all new immersive experiences never before found on a Disney Cruise Line vessel.
