Each Friday, the Crescent Lake Club brings you the latest Foodie Find – a review of a dish, cocktail or even a restaurant that you’ve been missing out on!
One of the favorite dining locations of the Crescent Lake Club is California Grill. So of course on our recent group trip we had to make a stop. One of the great things about this signature restaurant outside of the view is that the menu rotates seasonally or even more frequently. This means there are always new things for you to try.
As I noted, the location and view is one of the big perks to this restaurant. It is located on top of Disney’s Contemporary Resort and features sweeping views of the entire Walt Disney World resort. You can see all four parks from various points of this restaurant. Of course when fireworks are happening the views of those are second to none.
As for the food this is a signature dining location which means higher quality and higher prices. However, this place doesn’t always need to break the bank. They are known for their hand-rolled sushi and wood oven pizzas.
California Grill offers two pizzas currently, a Pepperoni (house made pepperoni, tomato conservative, fontina, asiago, parmesan, mozzarella, and basil-oregano pistou) and a Four Cheese (artichoke barigoule, fontina, sottocenere, stracciatella, parmesan fonduta, and calabrian chili-aglio e olio). Our table got the Four Cheese as an appetizer and then I got the Pepperoni as my main course. California Grill has plenty of other options for a main course as well such as Halibut, Oak-fired Filet of Beef, Rib-Eye Steak, Scallops, Chicken, Lamb Loin, and more.
Another big reason people come to California Grill is their drink menu. They have an extensive list of wines and other specialty drinks, and cocktails. I had the Orange Blossom Pilsner from Orange Blossom Brewing.
Now these pizzas we are featuring today are by no means the cheapest pizzas you will find. Both come in at $23 but are a great size to split between a couple people or have as your main course. For those looking at a signature meal on a less than signature budget the pizzas are a great option too as the entrées run $37 and up. Many Via Napoli fans may not agree with this take but this very well may be the best pizza on Walt Disney World property as well. Pizza is something Disney often struggles with for some reason and both the Four Cheese and Pepperoni options were excellent.
California Grill offers so much and is great option for special occasions and celebrations. This is often a popular stop for us runDisney folks to celebrate the weekend accomplishments. Many celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and more here as well. In non-pandemic times there is nothing like having a meal while watching the fireworks over Cinderella Castle.
California Grill is one of those places that I and the Crescent Lake Club will continue to go to until they no longer keep us wanting to come back.
