Here at the Crescent Lake Club, we are creatures of habit — especially when it comes to one of our favorite times of the day … Happy Hour!
Disney Springs offers so many great happy hour options that we could easily do a whole series on just happy hour alone, but in this week’s Foodie Find we’re going to take a look at one happy hour offering that has captured the Crescent Lake Club’s heart on more than one occasions: The Big Board at Wine Bar George.
One of three boards on offer throughout the day at Wine Bar George, The Big Board features six artisanal cheese and five artisanal meats along with seasonal accompaniments and condiments. And, of course, bread — what would a charcuterie plate be without crusty French bread?!
Because The Big Board features seasonal choices, no two Big Boards are ever the same! Let’s take a look at the CLC’s most recent experience with The Big Board.
At first glance, the $59 pricetag might seem extreme — but the king of charcuterie boards at Walt Disney World easily feeds four-to-six people, depending on appetite and is the perfect savory compliment to the delicious frozen cocktail on offer at Wine Bar George.
For cheeses, this Big Board featured crowd pleasers like triple-cream brie, aged white cheddar, manchego, farmstead toma, blue cheese and an enormous slice of Humboldt Fog goat cheese (that’s the one in the bottom-right corner with the stripe down the center) — and while the cheese selection could be considered slightly pedestrian, these offerings were of the highest quality and were fresh and delicious. The definitely paired well with the more adventurous meat offerings on the Big Board, which this time offered prosciutto de parma, sliced salami, mortadella, black pepper paté and a duck liver mousse. Olives, cornichons, lightly salted almonds, stone ground mustard, fig jelly, roasted pepper jam and a healthy portion of Savannah Bee Co. honeycomb were the condiments that helped bring all the selections together for a tasty flavor combination.
When ranking charcuterie boards offered across Walt Disney World dining locations, The Big Board at Wine Bar George definitely is one of the top choices.
